A bachelor’s graduate from Bucknell University and then completing his Doctorate of Philosophy (Electrical and Computer Engineering) from Carnegie Mellon University, Ted spent a number of years at leading organizations like IBM and CA. He now divides his time between lecturing at Texas State University and his role as Data Architect with City of Austin.

Starting in 1982, Linton Ward has been in a valuable member of the IBM family for over 30 years. With experience across a number of leading roles, Linton is currently the Chief Big Data Engineer, specializing in application and optimization of Big Data and Cloud Business Analytics.
Sal De Loera
Principal Solution Specialist,

After graduating at Texas A&M and beginning his career as a data warehouse analyst, Sal has since utilized his expertise in data across a number of industries including media, consulting and finance. Sal is currently with Microsoft, where his Big Data and Analytic skills are key to business and technical decisions.
Director – Software Innovation, R&D
As the Director for Software Innovation and Research & Development at Cisco, Parminder Kocher leads the innovation software strategies and solutions, and delivers cloud based offerings for Analytics. In his previous role as Head of Innovation and Incubation, Parminder founded the Cisco Services Technology Incubator Center.
Business Development Manager
Otmar’s focus in the past 15 years has been on helping his scientific and engineering clients utilize their Big Analog Data ™ for increased productivity and reduced time to market. During his 27 year career at National Instruments, he and his R&D colleagues have pioneered the use of Big Analog Data™ for customers in the Transportation, Aerospace, White Goods and Energy industry. Otmar currently works as an international consultant on Big Analog Data™ solutions with engineering leaders for global companies including Toyota, Daimler-Benz, Rolls Royce, Caterpillar, Boeing, Airbus and Hyundai.
Big Data and Advanced Analytics Architect
Khader is Big Data Lead for North Americas Central region at Oracle. He is a published co-author of “The Oracle Big Data Handbook” published by Oracle Press/McGraw Hill. In his current role, Khader applies his 20 years of Enterprise Software, Hardware and Industry Consulting expertise to architect Big Data solutions that transform companies into being more data driven. He has held leadership positions at top innovation companies like Oracle, Accenture and Sun Microsystems. Khader has developed analytical information solutions for several fortune 500 global companies in the areas of Retail, Oil & Gas, Utilities, Telecom, Finance, and Bioinformatics using a combination of open source and commercial technologies.
The World Champion of TEXATA 2014, Stéphane needs no introduction. A graduate of Geneva University and HEC Lausanne School of Business, Stéphane has worked across a cross section of industries including LVMH and ML Capital. He is currently a Data Scientist at KPMG.
Through his roles as Business Development Manager and District Sales Manager at Intel, Brian Dietrich has developed a strong understanding of user, computation and business needs of Intel’s customers. This was highlighted when the Texas Advanced Computer Center partnered with Intel to use their new Xeon Phi core processor.
Lead Member Technical Staff (Big Data)
James Pratt’s Big Data focus is based around improving Data services for consumers, business and scientists alike. As a Lead Member Technical Staff at AT&T, James’ work with Big Data privacy innovation has drawn praise from top names in the internet technology community including Engadget and Lifehacker.
Currently the Director of Solutions Engineering at Hortonworks, Don has 20+ years of experience in technology and data with some of the top innovation companies such as HP, Boeing and McKesson. Don also has a strong background in business, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and work in consulting.
Senior Machine Learning Scientist
Following his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Instituto Superior Téchnico in Lisbon, Jorge continued to be involved in academics as a Senior Research Scientist at Duke University. Currently, Jorge has brought his expertise to SAS in his role as a Senior Machine Learning Scientist.
Managing Director, Data Science & Innovation
With a background in both business and IT, Viral developed a unique expertise in helping organizations to create value from Data Assets, a role he currently holds at KPMG. He has experience across a number of different areas including accounting, IT and consultancy.
DR. Ramesh Rajagopalan
Associate Director, Business Analytics

Dr. Ramesh gained experience in strategy consulting before diving into the world of data analytics at global firm Dell, where he developed skills in enterprise architecture and cloud computing. Dr. Ramesh has since turned his hand to teach, where he leads the business analytics faculty at UT.
Chief Technology Officer
Bart developed a strong background in consumer advocacy analytics during his 11 years at Cisco, before moving into business solutions consulting. Having held leadership roles such as CTO, CIO and COO across a number high-worth multinational companies, Bart is currently the Chief Technology Officer at Signacert.
Big Data Systems Engineer
Natalia honed her skills as a System Administrator at Lyons Consulting Group where she worked in code testing and development. With certifications in Cloudera and Magneto, Natalia now utilises this expertise at Infochimps where she is responsible for administration and consultation on Big Data platforms.
Steven has a vast and varied experience in analysis and business strategy. Beyond his current role as the CEO of Predictive Science, Steven also acts as a Digital Advisor, for a range of large-scale corporations including Dell, VMWare, Neiman Marcus and the National Football League.
Director of Data Intensive Computing
Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC)
With more than 10 years’ experience at the Space Telescope Science Institute, Niall has vast experience with extensive work developing software to processing and archiving space telescope data including the Hubble Space Telescope. Niall is currently the Director of Data Intensive Computing at the Texas Advanced Computing Center.
Dr. Nikhil Rao
ICES Postdoctoral Fellow
Graduating with a PhD from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Dr. Rao is now a Postdoctoral Fellow at the department of Computer Science at UT Austin and part of the Center for Big Data Analytics at the ICES. His major interests include Statistical Machine Learning and Large Scale Optimization.

Dave has vast senior leader and managerial experience in building high performance teams and growth businesses. With experience at major organizations such as VMWare, AMD, HP and Microsoft, Dave Martin has taken his talents to Tableau where he is responsible for building teams to drive worldwide growth in the Big Data Analytics.
